When compared to last years 2010 models the 2011 MacBook Air i5 has a faster ssd,faster processor,backlit keyboard and of course the all new thunderbolt port.Design wise the 2011 MacBook Air incorporates the exact same design as the 2010 models which is certainly not a negative considering the design is still very impressive and continues to be one of the thinnest notebooks available in the market right now.

At its thickest points the MacBook Air is just 68- tenths of an inch thick and tapers all the way down to 11- tenths of an inch thick which is razor thin and also offers a elegant design.Its slim design looks phenomenal and makes the laptop a breeze to use for long periods of time.Weight wise the 14 inch MacBook Air is just shy of 3 pounds at 2.96 pounds and the 11 inch model weighs only 2.38 pounds.

In terms of the design the MacBook Air is on point offering a very thin,light weight,and rock solid uni-body aluminum construction that apple is noted for.Apple really hit it home as far as the entire design and the weight of the MacBook Air goes.

Getting into the hardware the 13 inch model has a resolution of 1440x900 and also comes equipped with a 1.7 GHZ dual core intel core i5 processor,4GB of ram,120 GB of ssd and integrated intel hd 3000 graphics.Overall the 2011 MacBook Air's have pretty good hardware features and are comparable to other ultra portable laptops on the market right now.

On the software front the new MacBook Air's come preloaded with Mac os lion 10.7 out of the box.Mac os lion  brings forth many new features like launch pad,mission control and of course several key enhancements to safari.The new MacBook Air's handle lion 10.7 like a champ, performance has been buttery smooth lag free and consistent.

Efficiency on the MacBook Air i5 has been pleasant thanks to the ssd and the upgraded cpu being the intel core i5 clocked at 1.7 GHZ but the one area were the device didn't perform as well was gaming and that's because the use a different integrated graphics card being the intel hd 3000. Ironically the 2010 MacBook Air has better graphics due to a dedicated Nvidia GPU.

Apple definitely didn't sacrifice the portability and sleek design of the Air while fixing some consumer complaints from the urlyer model by adding a faster processor and a back lit keyboard. Overall the MacBook Air i5 is a great ultra thin,extremely light portable laptop that can handle general to heavy computing needs.
